October is Information Literacy Month

Governor Pat Quinn has declared October Information Literacy Month. In the proclamation issued by the governor’s office, he states that information literacy provides the tools and skills to successfully find, evaluate, and use information from a diverse array of sources in a constantly changing world. He also notes the importance of information literacy skills for citizens of Illinois to attain highly skilled jobs and compete in the global economy. Therefore, it is crucial to teach information literacy skills in our schools, colleges, and communities.
